GeoTagr App Reviews

Love it, works perfectly.

I had been considering buying a $100 device and/or eyefi SD card for about the same, when I came across this app. I plan on using this app to track my movement around Europe and will later sync the geotags with all my photos taken with a non-GPS enabled DSLR. I have tested it locally (removed my SIM card to replicate no service), and it was a breeze. Also, huge respect and kudos to the developer of the app. He is very friendly and quick to respond with emails (and even tweets). Previous updates had a bug with losing the track due to an iOS limitation, but I can confirm it has been resolved and fixed! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great app!!!

Not only do I think this app is really terrific, I got great swift and clear support when I was stuck initially trying to pair my camera with my iMac!

Need a GPS log

Then get it ....... it just works correctky

Great companion for DSLR

Really like tagging all my DSLR photos so I never have to wonder where I took a photo at

Great!

I love this app for geotagging photos from my slr. If you want more precise locations than "manhattan," this app is for you. It makes it quick and easy.

Simple, useful app

I picked this app because of all the apps I checked out it had the least amount of rigmarole to create and manage tracks. Even if you dont use it to tag your photos, the little map it creates and then can be turned into a JPEG is a nice history of any trip you take. Note: the time is stored in phone time, not some sort of timestamp. As you cross time zones, you may find that your phone changes the time but your camera does not. Since the time set up on my camera is tedious, I found it just as easy to go into the phone settings and set time to match camera time. this is a klooge no matter how you handle it, but the app has no choice, given the limited ability of most cameras to create a timestamp.

Good app

Works like it says. Allows me to feorag no matter what camera i use. I like the fact that in my Mac it will tag pictures in a folder. Good feature. Really glad they made it. Can wait to see if u can make it run in the background for ios4.

Finally an app that does what I want

UPDATE: after using this app for a few days now, my two complaints are that I cant add tagged photos to both the camera roll and an *existing* album (minor), and that tagging and saving to the camera roll seems to destroy the portrait orientation of photos (I have to go a rotate all photos back into portrait mode after theyve been tagged) Ive tried using a number of other apps to geotag my photos from DSLR, but havent really come across any that worked until now. Conceptually, PlaceTagger was exactly what I was looking for, except it doesnt work, at all. Tested this out this morning and Im finally able to geotag my imported photos *before* they hit Photo Stream (by putting my iPad into airplane mode) which means that all my tote connected devices get the properly tagged pics. Perfection!

Versatile, Dependable, and Indispensable!

I tried almost a dozen tracking/tagging apps before finally settling on this great product. I went backpacking through Europe and wanted a way to geotag my photos through an iPad instead of lugging a computer around. This was one of the only solutions that could actually apply GPS coordinates in the app itself. It worked almost flawlessly for almost 1000 different shots. It’s universal, so I would track using my phone, take photos with the DSLR, and tag/edit photos with the iPad through an SD adapter. Pros: -Beautiful design that’s easy to use -Actually APPLY coordinates to photos in app! -Universal for iPad and iPhone -Great tracking using GPS -Lots of options and features, like my favorite: automatically share tracking sessions between iPhone and iPad through wifi/bluetooth! Open the app on both devices, they find each other, and automatically share tracks! Cons: -The tracking was not effective using phone tower triangulation, but perfect using the more battery-hungry GPS. I only had 5 “location pins” on phone tower mode, but 700 on GPS -When applying GPS info to pictures, it forgot my rotation metadata. Easily fixed in iPhoto though Things to know: Any GPS tracking app will use lots of battery. I always brought a backup battery, which is almost required for all day tracks. Pause sessions to save some power. Also, I found this app to be as battery efficient as anyone else. Thanks for making this app developers! It was a HUGE help.

A perfect geotagging app

I have used several geotagging methods over the last five years, including a dedicated geotagging hardware and another app. GeoTagr is definitely the best. It is always with me on my iPhone, it really conserves battery, I have a selection of ways to access the data, and it doesnt require any extra software to process the data. I can leave it running on my phone for a long trip (at least 8 hours) without worrying about running down the battery. When Im finished an back at my computer, I upload to DropBox, access the file with Lightroom and the job is finished. I do a lot of travel photography and find that having a photo geotagged is a tremendous help when Im home and putting a slide show together. I wouldnt go on a trip without GeoTager.

Great start

App works well. It does exactly what I want it to do, assign gps coordinates to photos based on their time stamps relative to a gps track. Graphics and interface, however, are a bit clumsy and detract from the experience considerably. If the UI can be improved this will be a great app.

Works Amazingly Well

I geotag all my photos taken with a regular camera, and this app makes it easy. I simply record my "track" in the background while taking photos, export the track log as a GPX file to my computer when I get home, then use Adobe Lightroom (which is where I edit my photos) to add the geotagging info to my photos. This is awesome when I want to revisit a place where I took pictures, beause I can see exactly where the photo was taken.

Simple and beautiful

Field tested on trip to Hawaii with DSLR. Captured geotags on iPhone, loaded photos to iPad. Easy to sync over Wi-Fi. Surprisingly low battery drain on GPS. Perfect for vacation photography.

Works exceptionally well

My buddy and I go on rambling trips through the back country of Tennessee and Alabama looking for old barns and other buildings to take images of. We have found that GeoRagR app is the best geotag app for the IPhone. The offnet GPS feature is worth the cost. As to battery life, yes it will eat up your battery, But e have car chargers that takes care of that. Geotagr is very accurate and the trac is easy to import into Lightroom and apply to your images. Highly recommend

Works well, interfaces with IPad.

Ive used this app several times to geotag my trip photos. It has a good level of flexibility to avoid burning through your battery. Very easy to geotag a large number of photos.

Incredible addition to DSLR photo workflow

I’ve been longing to have geo tagged data appended to my DSLR photos. With Apple’s Photos product nearing release, being able to look at my photos by location shouldn’t be limited to images shot only on my iPhone. The hardware that does this for SLR’s costs hundreds of dollars, but this app gets it done for a fraction of the price and uses the GPS I carry with me always, my iPhone. The interface is simple, looks great on iOS 7 and above and works incredibly, simply, well. The developer also responds to customer e-mails swiftly. I’ve tried out alternatives for geo-tagging my DSLR photos and GeoTagr works best, by far, for my workflow.

Does what it says

This was the only geotagging app I found that would add the metadata on my phone, not requiring a desktop app. It works great with the photos transferred to my phone via Eyefi, so all of my photos are nicely tagged.

Best way to GeoTag

Wanted a way to geotag photos both on my laptop, iPad and on Flickr. Great App! Really works well and the developer has always been good at quick responses. Now all we need is Watch support

Great App

GeoTagr is a great app. It works well and integrates with lightroom seamlessly.

Lightroom

I use it with Lightroom to tag photos and it works like a charm. Great for tagging photos across cameras. Not a huge impact on battery life. Love the Dropbox integration.
